Solar Tracking Efficiency

Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-05-20

These terms govern your use of Solar Tracking Efficiency (the "Service"). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Solar Tracking Efficiency is a web application that lets owners of residential and commercial solar photovoltaic systems log monthly meter / inverter readings, compare actual generation against projected output, and optionally publish read-only dashboards via a share token. The Service also exposes a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server so that AI clients such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and VS Code can read and write your solar data on your behalf (see Section 7).

The Service is currently offered free of charge during an open-beta period. We may add paid plans in the future and we will give you reasonable advance notice if that affects your account.

2. Accounts

  • You must register a personal account with accurate information. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and any access tokens you generate.
  • You must be at least 16 years old (or the equivalent age of digital consent in your jurisdiction) to use the Service.
  • One person per account. You may not share your credentials with others or transfer your account.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account, including any MCP tokens or OAuth grants you issue to AI clients.

3. Your content

You retain all rights to the solar system metadata, monthly readings, images, and other content you upload (your "Content"). You grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, transmit, transform (e.g., resize avatars, compute aggregates) and display your Content solely so we can provide the Service to you. We do not claim ownership of your Content and we do not use it to train AI models.

You are responsible for the accuracy of your Content. The Service computes derived metrics (daily averages, performance ratios, balances) from the readings you provide; we do not guarantee those derivations match the figures shown by your utility company or installer.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service to violate any applicable law or regulation.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts, data, or our infrastructure, including by probing, scanning, or exploiting vulnerabilities (good-faith security research is welcome — please email us first).
  • Submit content that is unlawful, infringing, defamatory, malicious, or that contains personal data of other people without their consent.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service, including by overloading the API, the MCP server, or any rate-limited endpoint. Programmatic clients must respect rate limits and back off on errors.
  • Use the Service to send spam, phishing, or unsolicited messages of any kind.
  • Scrape or systematically extract data that does not belong to you, including from public dashboards generated by other users via share tokens.

5. Public sharing

When you generate a public share link for one of your solar systems, the technical and production data of that system becomes accessible to anyone who has the URL. The Service deliberately excludes your name, email, location, system name, and any other personal identifier from the public payload. You may revoke or rotate the link at any time from the system's edit page; once revoked, the URL stops working immediately.

You are responsible for the link you publish. If you no longer wish to share, revoke it.

6. Personal access tokens

From your profile page you can generate personal access tokens (PATs) for AI clients that do not support OAuth (such as Claude Code or Cursor). Each token carries one or both of the abilities mcp:read and mcp:write, and is scoped strictly to your own account.

  • Treat your tokens like passwords. They are shown to you only once at creation.
  • Anyone with a valid token can act on your account up to the abilities you granted.
  • Revoke a token immediately at /profile/mcp-tokens if you suspect compromise.

7. AI clients and the MCP server

The Service exposes a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that accepts two authentication modes: personal access tokens (Section 6) and OAuth 2.0 (used by ChatGPT and other connector-style clients). When an AI client invokes a tool on your behalf:

  • The action is performed by the Service as if you had performed it directly.
  • The Service enforces the same permissions and policies as the web UI.
  • Write tools (create_reading, update_reading, delete_reading, import_readings) modify your data permanently.
  • You are responsible for confirming destructive operations before approving them in your AI client.

We are not responsible for the behaviour, fees, content moderation, or safety of any AI client you connect (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code, etc.). Their terms apply independently to your use of those products.

8. Service availability and changes

The Service is provided on a best-effort basis with no service level agreement. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features (including the MCP server, public sharing, or third-party integrations) at any time without prior notice when reasonably necessary for security, legal compliance, or operational reasons. We will give reasonable advance notice for material changes that affect existing users when feasible.

Planned maintenance and unscheduled outages happen. Always keep your own backup of any data that is critical to you — the data-export feature on your profile page generates a full JSON dump of your account.

9. Account suspension and termination

You may delete your account at any time from the profile page. Deletion is hard and irreversible: your account, solar systems, monthly readings, avatar, and any public share links are removed from the live database; encrypted backups rotate out within 30 days (see the Privacy Policy).

We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach these terms, abuse the infrastructure, or use the Service for unlawful purposes. We will try to notify you first when feasible.

10. Privacy

Your privacy is covered by our Privacy Policy , which explains what we collect, why, how long we keep it, and how to exercise your GDPR / LGPD rights.

11. Intellectual property

The Service, its source code (where not released under an open-source license), its name, and its branding are owned by Solar Tracking Efficiency and protected by applicable law. Nothing in these terms grants you any rights to our trademarks or brand assets.

12. Disclaimer of warranties

Important — please read.

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure against all attacks, or that any derived metric (daily averages, performance ratios, balances) will be accurate for your specific installation. You are solely responsible for verifying any data before relying on it to make financial, regulatory, or engineering decisions.

13. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Solar Tracking Efficiency and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or use, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service — regardless of legal theory. Our total cumulative liability for any claim related to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you have paid us for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim or (b) US$ 50.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages; in those jurisdictions, the limitations above apply only to the extent permitted.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Solar Tracking Efficiency and its operators from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of (a) your use of the Service, (b) your Content, or (c) your breach of these terms.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms to reflect changes in the Service, our practices, or applicable law. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated to active users by email or in-app notice. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

16. Governing law and dispute resolution

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Brazil, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with the Service that cannot be resolved informally shall be brought exclusively before the courts of São Paulo, SP, Brazil. If you are a consumer in another jurisdiction, you may also have rights under your local law that cannot be waived by these terms.
